Puppy License

Puppy License

You will find this useful whether you just brought your dog home or have been living with your dog for 12 years!

Take a sheet of paper – one for each of your dogs. Write at the top of each page the words 'Puppy License'. In the middle of the page write your dog’s name. Fold the paper and put it someplace you will remember it – like the butter dish in your refrigerator.

The day that your puppy or dog does something so outrageous that you become angry… Go to your refrigerator and get your piece of paper. Open it and read it out loud.

Smile and remind yourself that your dog has a license to be a puppy. You gave it to her. After all, you are the one who brought an animal in to your life. Never be surprised when an animal does an animal behavior!

Do you have children? If not, then were you once a child? When my first child turned two I was determined to find the cure for two-year-olds. I read all the books and went to all the parenting classes. When my second child turned two, I smiled and said the only cure for a two year old is he will become a three-year-old!

The only cure for a puppy is becoming a dog. There is no cure for being a dog. You can try for the rest of your dog’s life toteach her to meow. And she will look at you and bark. She is a dog worthy of your love, trust, and respect. Please grant her the license to be a puppy. You will both have a happier life!
